I pick matte PS5 light bar covers that block LED glow so your partner sleeps while you play. No invented specs, just the finish that kills the light.

By Evan Holt · Computing editor · Computing desk · Gadget Evaluator Lab

Evan's spec pass. Choose a matte finish that blocks the LED glow so your partner sleeps while you play. The photo must show a solid, non-translucent surface covering the light strip.

The desk job is simple: stop the blue and white LED glow from waking your partner while you play. You need a matte finish that physically blocks the light, not a tinted filter that lets some through.

In the product photo, look for a solid, opaque matte surface that fully covers the light bar area. If the listing title mentions a specific model or finish, verify it matches the visual evidence of a light-blocking design.

01 Cover Plates with Cooling Vent for PS5 Disc Edition Console…

This set targets the PS5 Disc Edition specifically, featuring a design that includes cooling vents to maintain airflow while you swap out the standard side panels. The matte finish on these plates is the key detail here, as it absorbs the light from the internal strip rather than reflecting it into the room.

In the product photo, look closely at the vent cutouts to ensure they align with the console's intake and exhaust ports, as misalignment can cause thermal throttling. The surface texture should appear non-glossy; if the image shows a high-shine plastic, the LED glow will still bleed through, defeating the purpose of keeping the bedroom dark for your partner.

02 Disc Edition Face Plates Cover Skins Shell Panels for PS5 Console…

Designed for the original PS5 Disc Edition, these protective faceplates are marketed with dustproof properties, which often implies a denser material composition that helps block light transmission. The title highlights their role as a shell replacement, focusing on the exterior aesthetic and protection of the console's sides.

Check the photo for the edge profile where the plate meets the console body; a tight seal is necessary to prevent light leakage from the gaps. If the material looks thin or translucent in the listing image, it will likely let the RGB strip shine through, so you want a solid, opaque finish that visually cuts off the glow source.

03 Digital Edition Face Plates Cover Skins Shell Panels for PS5…

These panels are compatible with the PS5 Digital Edition, a model that lacks the disc drive but retains the same internal lighting architecture. The title emphasizes them as protective shell replacements, suggesting a focus on covering the white plastic sides with a different material or color profile.

In the photo, verify that the curvature matches the Digital Edition's specific chassis, as the Disc and Digital models have different side panel geometries. Look for a matte texture in the image; a glossy finish will act as a light pipe, directing the LED glow toward the ceiling or your partner's face instead of blocking it.

04 Slim Digital Edition Cover Plates for New PS5 Slim Console, Shell…

This listing is specific to the New PS5 Slim Console, which has a different physical footprint than the original models. The title identifies them as slim cover plates, indicating they are tailored to the reduced dimensions of the newer hardware to ensure a proper fit.

Examine the photo for the mounting points, as the Slim model uses different screw placements than the original PS5. The surface finish in the image should be flat and non-reflective; if it looks like clear or semi-transparent plastic, it will not block the internal light bar, leaving the room illuminated during your gaming sessions.

05 Disc Edition Face Plates with Cooling Vents Cover Skins Shell…

Targeting the PS5 Disc Edition, these faceplates include cooling vents, a feature that helps with thermal management but requires careful observation to ensure they don't compromise light blocking. The title positions them as protective shell replacements, balancing airflow with the console's exterior integrity.

Look at the photo to see if the vent openings are large enough to allow light to escape from the internal components. If the vents are wide and the surrounding material is thin, the LED glow will shine through the holes, so you need a design where the vents are small or the material is thick enough to diffuse the light effectively.

06 Geekria Transparent Cover Plates Compatible with PS5, PlayStation…

This Geekria listing is for the PS5 Disc Edition and is explicitly described as transparent, which is a critical detail for your specific goal of blocking light. The title mentions hard shockproof ABS material, but the transparency is the primary characteristic that defines its visual impact.

In the product photo, you will see that the panels are clear, meaning they will not block the LED glow at all. In fact, they may enhance the visibility of the light strip. If your priority is a dark room for your partner, this transparent option is the opposite of what you need, as it allows the full spectrum of the console's lighting to pass through.

07 for PS5 Faceplates with Cooling Vents LED Lights, Megadream…

Stars	4.3
Price	$39.99
Page	Open the Amazon listing

This set is for the PS5 and features cooling vents with LED lights, as stated in the title. The inclusion of 'LED Lights' in the product name suggests that these plates may have their own lighting elements or are designed to showcase the console's existing lights rather than hide them.

Check the photo to see if the vents are designed to let light out or if the plates themselves emit light. If the listing highlights LED functionality, it is likely that the design prioritizes visibility of the glow over blocking it, which would make it unsuitable for a partner who needs a dark environment to sleep.

08 Joso Faceplate for PS5 Pro Digital Edition with RGB Light Strip…

Kind	PS5 light bar cover
Stars	4.2
Price	$49.99
Page	Open the Amazon listing

This faceplate is for the PS5 Pro Digital Edition and includes an RGB light strip, as noted in the title. The presence of an active RGB strip means this product is designed to add or enhance lighting effects rather than suppress them.

In the photo, look for the RGB strip integration; if it is a prominent feature, it will actively project light into the room. This is the wrong choice for blocking glow, as the product is built to be seen and to emit light, directly conflicting with the goal of keeping the bedroom dark for your partner.
