Who sends it back

I review these mats for the litter box trap. If your cat is tiny or your floor is slick, this pets litter mat page tells you who should skip it.

By Avery Quinn · Beauty, kids, and pets editor · Kids, pets, and skin · Gadget Evaluator Lab

I am Avery Quinn, and I test these mats for the specific job of trapping litter. If your cat is a kitten or a very small breed, the mat may be too large or heavy for them to step on effectively, leading to a return.

Check the title for the size and material. If the listing does not specify a non-slip backing or a specific weight capacity, you are guessing. The mat must match your cat's size and your floor type to work.

Avery's caution. This page is for cat owners whose litter box area is a mess. Skip these if your cat is too small to step on the mat or if your floor is not compatible with the grip.

PetSafe Anti-Tracking Cat Litter Mat, Small, 20.5 x 19.7 in

The PetSafe Anti-Tracking Cat Litter Mat is sized at 20.5 x 19.7 inches, a compact footprint designed for standard-sized litter boxes where space is tight.

Skip this if your cat uses a jumbo-sized box or if you have a large breed that tends to kick litter well beyond the immediate perimeter, as the small dimensions will likely leave tracking spots on your floor.

Cat Litter Mat, XL 40 x 28 in Large Silicone Litter Box Mat, Gray

This XL silicone mat measures 40 x 28 inches and is built to cover a large area around the litter box to catch stray clumps.

If your litter box is a standard 18-inch width, the extra width of this XL model may look oversized and cluttered in a small bathroom, so skip it if you need a tighter fit for a compact space.

iPrimio Cat Litter Trapper Mat, Waterproof, Double Layer, 30" x…

The iPrimio Cat Litter Trapper Mat features a waterproof double-layer design in a 30" x 23" brown format to trap debris.

Skip this if you prefer a single-layer silicone mat that is easier to hose down, as the double-layer construction can be bulkier to clean and may not suit a minimalist aesthetic.

The Lukamoo mat is a 24''x16'' large option with a cute design intended for kitty litter and litter boxes.

Skip this if you need a heavy-duty industrial-grade mat for a very active cat, as the focus here is on a cute aesthetic rather than maximum durability for high-traffic areas.

Cat Litter Mat, 47x35in Extra Large Litter Mat, Waterproof Non-Slip

This extra-large cat litter mat measures 47×35 inches and is waterproof with a non-slip surface.

If you are looking for a small mat to fit under a compact litter box in a tiny bathroom, this 47×35 inch size will be too large and may not fit the available floor space.
