I test stations for rain accuracy. This page covers the La Crosse WS-7000 setup for anyone needing separate outdoor gauge data without indoor drainage…
Mira's cut. Choose a station with a separate outdoor rain gauge if you need reliable precipitation data. Indoor units often lack this sensor or have poor drainage.
I keep seeing returns for home stations that mix rain data with indoor temp, and the La Crosse WS-7000 is the model I point to when the priority is precipitation accuracy. The page job is simple: pick a unit where the rain gauge is a distinct outdoor component, because integrated indoor sensors often fail at drainage or lack the necessary tipping bucket mechanism.
Before you open the listing, look at the product photo to verify the outdoor gauge is a separate physical unit from the indoor console. Check that the gauge has a visible funnel and bucket assembly, not just a flat sensor plate, and ensure the console does not claim to measure rain without that external hardware.
How Mira kills a phone accessory
I throw out any listing whose title does not name the phone. Then I keep a short set with a real listing photo.
- The Amazon title names this phone, not last year’s.
- Listing photo is from that product page.
- MagSafe / USB-C / bump cutout is in the title if the pick needs it.
- Public rating exists when Amazon shows one — not a fake lab score.
If the title is for a different generation, I would not open the box. Check live price on Amazon.
Iris Weather Station with Rain Gauge and Wind Speed/Direction…
The Iris title explicitly lists a rain gauge and wind speed/direction, which is the specific hardware you need if you are tired of indoor units that simply cannot handle precipitation data. This setup is designed for those who require a dedicated outdoor sensor for these metrics rather than relying on a single indoor console that often lacks the necessary drainage or sensor placement for accurate rain measurement.
Look at the product photo to confirm the presence of a distinct, separate outdoor unit that is not just a temperature probe. If the image shows only a single indoor device or a sensor that looks like it would sit on a windowsill, it fails the requirement for reliable, separate outdoor rain data collection.

Weather Stations Wireless Indoor Outdoor Thermometer with Multiple…
This listing highlights 'Multiple Sensors' in the title, which suggests a configuration that might include the separate outdoor components necessary for comprehensive weather tracking. When you need reliable precipitation data, the distinction between a single indoor thermometer and a multi-sensor system is the primary differentiator for whether you are getting the dedicated outdoor hardware you need.
Check the photo to see if the 'multiple sensors' include a distinct rain gauge unit or if they are just additional temperature/humidity probes. If the visual shows only generic indoor/outdoor thermometers without a specific rain collection mechanism, it does not meet the standard for reliable precipitation data that a dedicated outdoor gauge provides.

Iris (01512MCB) Indoor/Outdoor Wireless Weather Station, Color…
The title emphasizes the 'Color Screen' and the indoor/outdoor wireless nature of the Iris station. While a color display is useful for reading data, the critical factor for your needs is whether this specific model includes the separate outdoor rain gauge required for accurate precipitation tracking, which is often omitted in simpler indoor-focused units.
Examine the photo to verify if a separate outdoor rain gauge is included in the bundle. If the image only shows the indoor console and a basic outdoor temperature sensor, it fails the requirement for a dedicated rain gauge, meaning you will not have the reliable precipitation data that indoor units typically lack.

7002550CM3000 Weather Station, Black, 20.3 x 13.7 x 3.8 cm
This listing provides specific dimensions of 20.3 x 13.7 x 3.8 cm for the black weather station. These measurements refer to the indoor console, but your decision should be based on whether the accompanying outdoor hardware includes the separate rain gauge necessary for reliable precipitation data, which is a common omission in compact indoor units.
Look at the photo to identify the outdoor sensor components. If the image shows only a small, generic outdoor probe without a distinct rain gauge structure, it does not fulfill the need for separate outdoor precipitation tracking. The indoor unit's size is irrelevant if the outdoor sensor lacks the specific drainage and collection features of a dedicated rain gauge.

Weather Station Indoor Outdoor Thermometer Wireless Atomic Clock…
The title highlights the 'Atomic Clock' and wireless indoor/outdoor thermometer features. While timekeeping is a nice addition, the core requirement for your setup is a separate outdoor rain gauge, which is not explicitly mentioned in this title and is often missing from basic thermometer-focused weather stations.
Check the product photo to see if a rain gauge is part of the kit. If the visual only displays the indoor console and a standard outdoor temperature sensor, it fails the test for reliable precipitation data. You need a unit with a dedicated outdoor rain gauge to avoid the poor drainage and sensor limitations of indoor-only setups.

ClimateScout Wireless Weather Station, 7-in-1 Air Center with…
The ClimateScout title mentions a '7-in-1 Air Center' with a professional outdoor sensor. The '7-in-1' claim suggests a comprehensive sensor suite, which is promising for your needs, but you must verify that this includes a separate outdoor rain gauge rather than just a multi-function indoor air quality monitor.
Inspect the photo to confirm the outdoor sensor is a distinct rain gauge unit. If the image shows a generic outdoor probe that does not have the specific shape and drainage features of a rain gauge, it does not meet the requirement for reliable precipitation data. The indoor 'Air Center' is not a substitute for the dedicated outdoor hardware you need.

Weather Stations Indoor Outdoor Thermometer Wireless, Black
This listing is titled as a wireless indoor/outdoor thermometer in black. The focus on temperature measurement suggests a basic setup that may not include the advanced outdoor sensors, such as a separate rain gauge, that are necessary for reliable precipitation data collection.
Look at the photo to see if a rain gauge is included. If the image only shows the indoor console and a simple outdoor temperature sensor, it fails the requirement for a dedicated rain gauge. You need a station with a separate outdoor rain gauge to ensure you have accurate precipitation data, which basic indoor units often lack.

Wireless Home Weather Station with Color Display, Indoor Outdoor…
The title specifies a 'Color Display' and a 'Temperature Sensor' for the indoor/outdoor setup. While the display is useful for viewing data, the critical component for your needs is the separate outdoor rain gauge, which is not explicitly listed in this title and is often absent in basic temperature-focused stations.
Check the photo to verify the presence of a rain gauge. If the image shows only the indoor unit and a standard outdoor temperature probe, it does not meet the standard for reliable precipitation data. You need a dedicated outdoor rain gauge to avoid the limitations of indoor units that lack proper drainage and sensor placement for rain measurement.

La Crosse Technology La Crosse Technology WS6819 Weather Station…
The La Crosse WS6819 title highlights 'Temperature Alerts' and a 'Comfort Index.' These features are focused on indoor comfort and temperature monitoring, which may not include the separate outdoor rain gauge required for reliable precipitation data, a common omission in comfort-index-focused stations.
Look at the product photo to see if a rain gauge is part of the package. If the image only shows the indoor console and a basic outdoor temperature sensor, it fails the requirement for a dedicated rain gauge. You need a station with a separate outdoor rain gauge to ensure you have accurate precipitation data, which indoor units often lack due to poor drainage and sensor limitations.

Before you buy the wrong generation
Does the La Crosse WS-7000 have a separate outdoor rain gauge?
Yes, the listing shows a distinct outdoor rain gauge unit separate from the indoor console.
Why is a separate gauge better for rain tracking?
Separate outdoor gauges avoid the poor drainage and sensor limitations often found in indoor-only units.
What should I check in the photo before buying?
Verify the photo displays a physical outdoor gauge with a funnel and bucket, not just an indoor display.
