Clean the cup after every use. Electric aspirators get abandoned when the reservoir is disgusting and the parts are not obvious. Look at the exploded photo. If you cannot see how the tip, the filter, and the cup come apart, you will not clean it. Saline first, then suction, is the listing's own instruction for dried mucus.
